Hiking across Virginia

Hiking my way through a book about trails in Virginia

  • In the beginning

    Hi

If you’ve found this blog, it was either via Google, the WordPress Reader, my crochet blog, or you stumbled upon it by accident.

No matter which way you found me, welcome.

My name is Liz, and in roughly 2 weeks, I will be turning 40.

This past Christmas, I received the book “The Trails of Virginia : Hiking the Old Dominion” by Allen de Hart. I’ve always been a novice hiking, though my ultimate hiking goal is to one day hike the Appalachian Trail from start to finish to one go. I’d actually been considering getting the book for awhile when my mom asked what book I wanted for Christmas.

My plan, once Mother Nature figures herself out of her latest mood swing, is to hike all of the over 1400 trails in the book before I turn 50. I figure 10 years should be more than enough time to walk all of them.

This blog will serve as a way for me to record my hikes, from the history on the trails themselves, to what I saw and experienced on the various trails and any pictures I took while on the trails.

I hope to start being able to hike and start my journey before the end of March.
